TIMBER QUALITY

Because we use naturally cured mountain timber of 14-18% average moisture content, our packages will only have about 1/2" to 1" of settlement in a 10' wall.  Allowance for settlement is achieved by using post adjusters at structural bearing points and settlement spaces over windows and at interior wall locations.

At every stage in production, logs are checked for quality and accuracy of cut length.  All of our pre-cut log packages are graded by trained Timber Products Inspection graders.  Logs are grade-stamped as required by local codes or client's request.  Log grading assures that the log package is structurally sound as to amount of knots, straightness of grain, minimal splits, and no rot.  Grading assures that checks, which are a normal presence in logs, are not weakening the log structurally.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Energy efficiency is a must for any home.  Logs are a natural reservoir for heat energy.   To enhance this natural thermal mass efficiency, each log is coped using a Swedish cope.  The radius of this cope is slightly smaller than the log diameter to maintain a uniform fit along the length of each log as the logs settle.  To increase weather tightness each pre-cut package includes the following: foam sealant tape (two rows for the cope between the logs), expanding foam insulation (for dado joints), and sill seal (for bottom plate logs).

MAINTENANCE

For proper maintenance of your log home, it is important that you keep the logs at your building site dry, off the ground, and away from weeds and grass.   Final cleanup can include a pressure wash.  It is strongly recommended that the exterior of your log home be sealed as soon as possible with a sealant that includes water and UV protection.  Due to the nature of logs, you may choose to caulk or chink the exterior of your log home.

PRICING

Our pricing is competitive with other quality log home companies providing equal package contents, log quality, finish, "pre-cut" percentage of logs, and services.  We will be more than happy to supply you with a log package quote.  Each item in your package option is carefully outlined.  We will supply a breakdown of prices within the overall package such as the loft structural package within the log package or the window package of the enclosed shell package.  Costs for individual accessories such as self drilling log screws and gasket are not broken down.

DELIVERY

We work with area independent trucking firms to provide delivery in any site accessible to a semi-tractor/trailer rig within the continental United States and Canada.  The pre-cut log packages come to you in units wrapped in plastic and placed on pallets.  Truckers are required to cover the shipment with tarpaulin.   Shipping costs are based on actual delivery mileage and average $2.75 per loaded mile per truck.  Most 1,600 sq. ft. homes of 8" diameter wall logs can fit on one truck.  Costs are F. O. B.  our Belgrade, Montana plant.  You pay the actual cost of shipping direct to the independent trucking firm.  We would be happy to provide shipping cost estimates.  You are required to provide a forklift with at least a 6,000# capacity at the unloading site.
